(TheConservativeTimes.org) – EThe Pentagon said on Wednesday that twenty-one American service members were wounded in drone assaults on U.S. sites in Syria and Iraq over the course of two days last week.
Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder, the Pentagon’s press secretary, stated that twenty-one American servicemen were injured in drone assaults on Al-Tanf Garrison in Syria and Assad Airbase in Iraq on October 17 and 18.
The Pentagon also reported on Thursday that 19 American military men serving in Syria and Iraq had been confirmed to have traumatic brain damage as a result of last week’s rocket and drone assaults by Iran-backed terrorists.
Fifteen service members at Al Tanf garrison and four at Al Asad had been diagnosed. Ryder said two other military men suffered minor injuries while stationed at Al Tanf.
Reports show after Hamas terrorists murdered more than 1,400 in an assault on Israelis in south Israel on October 7, Iran’s proxy forces initiated attacks against the U.S. sites last week amidst drone strikes and preparations for Israel’s infantry invasion into Gaza against Hamas. It has been alleged that hundreds, including Americans, have been taken captive.
Officials at the Pentagon have not identified the specific organizations responsible for the assaults, but they have pointed to Iran’s backing and financing of the groups as a reason why additional attacks against U.S. forces may be expected in the future.
On October 18, an early warning system detected a potential danger approaching the airfield at al-Assad. As a precaution, Base staff remained inside the facility. No attack happened, but a civilian contractor from the United States had a heart attack while taking cover and sadly died soon after.
Reports show Iranian proxy forces and, eventually, Iran pose a potential for more serious escalation against U.S. troops and people throughout the region.
The United States has sent an influx of soldiers and resources to the area, including two carrier strike groups, and placed an unidentified number of troops under prepare-to-deploy orders.
