A Look At How Cities Prepare for the Olympics

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – At the Paris Olympic Games’ closing ceremony, LA city Mayor Karen Bass accepted the Olympic flag as Los Angeles prepares to be the next home for the Olympics. Tom Cruise was then handed the flag to represent LA’s local businesses.

The 2028 games will be Los Angeles’ third time hosting the Olympics; the previous times were in the thirties and the eighties. The American city was picked for the 2028 games at the same time Paris was picked for this year’s Olympic Games.

Los Angeles hosted its first Olympics games in the thirties and was the only bidder for the games at the time since the country was in the middle of a Great Depression, and many nations were absent. The financial and cultural success in the eighties during the games was what gave those Olympic games the reputation of “good Olympics” and made many other cities want to host the games.

Janet Evans, a four-time Olympic gold medalist in swimming and Chief Athlete for the LA 2028 organizing committee, said, “We want our games to be modern games, youthful, full of the optimism that Southern California brings to the world and the globe.”

Karen Bass was seen at the games in Paris along with other organizers and city officials to better understand how to prepare a city for one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.

Said Bass, “As we’ve seen here in Paris, the Olympics are an opportunity to make transformative change.”

Los Angeles is expected to remodel and polish up existing structures instead of building new stadiums or arenas. They are also planning to open with a traditional, stadium-based approach at the SoFi Stadium. The Intuit Dome, which is soon-to-open, is expecting to host the Olympic basketball team. .
