The suspect was able to handle a weapon malfunction easily, which indicates he may be an experienced shooter, possibly with military or law enforcement training.
The timing of this attack forced authorities to implement increased security measures for the beloved holiday event as it happened just hours before the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting.
Adding another layer to this tragic story, Thompson’s wife revealed that he had received threats, possibly related to insurance coverage issues.
