Alibaba Releases Newest Version of their Large Language Model

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Alibaba Cloud recently just released the latest version of its large language model amid the popularity and demand for artificial intelligence.

The chief technology officer of Alibaba Cloud, Jingren Zhou, said that the firm has seen “many creative applications of the models from across the industries,” including electronics and gaming.

Zhou continued, saying, “We look forward to collaborating with our customers and developers in seizing the immense growth opportunities presented by the latest surge in generative AI development.”

The company released the latest version of its Tongyi Qianwen model, called Qwen2.5. They have said that this upgraded model of their AI system contains “remarkable advancements in reasoning, code comprehension, and textual understanding compared to its predecessor Qwen2.0.”

Large language models have been a popular addition to many companies like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and they are trained on mass amounts of data to generate human-like responses.

An analysis said that the latest version of Qwen proves to be better than OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 model in creation and language capabilities, but other categories like knowledge, reasoning, and match seemed to come up short in comparison.

Alibaba Cloud said that over two million corporate users have accessed their Qwen-powered AI services. The new Qwen model has also released a series of models to open source and an upgraded Model Studio.

With this, Chinese technology giants have also been releasing similar chatbots, like Baidu and Tencent, amid the demand for this type of AI.
