AUKUS Implementing Artificial Intelligence Defense Systems

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – The United States, United Kingdom, and Australia have had success in the next steps of developing artificial intelligence defense systems. Their unmanned aerial vehicles have just passed the test after conducting trials, according to officials.

The countries of AUKUS have banned together in the military sector with an agreement to focus on AI in the military.

All three countries put their defense systems to the test to figure out whether UAVs were able to “complete their missions and preserve network connectivity” across different battlespaces.

A statement was released from the Department of Defense saying that the AI-UAV integrated technology would be intended to “minimize the time between sensing enemy targets, deciding how to respond and responding to the threat.”

“Once matured and integrated into national platforms, these new sensing systems will yield more reliable data that commanders can use to make optimal decisions and service members to act more quickly against kinetic threats — all while enabling seamless joint and combined military operations involving multiple services and nations,” the DOD statement said.

One example of a software used was a map-based application called a Tactical Assault Kit. This allowed a British UAV to detect the location of outside forces and the information was sent to an “AI officer” that communicated with an on-site human. This allowed them to make a strategic call on next steps.

This technology is expected to proliferate and many experts are discussing how the trials for AI will continue and will help streamline military efforts across various platforms.
