(TheConservativeTimes.org) – President Biden showed up to the Democratic National Convention full of emotions and shedding tears. He was the opener of the Democratic National Convention after being forced out of being the Democratic Party nominee.
“America, I love you!” Biden said as he was dabbing his eyes after an introduction from his daughter. The crowd chanted back, “Thank you, Joe!” They continued to applaud him for almost five minutes before he started speaking.
Joe Biden came to the DNC as a speaker, although he was once intended to receive the democratic nomination for a second time. However, since his step back from the presidential nomination and his endorsement of Harris, he can no longer accept that position.
Said Biden, “I’ve got five months left of my presidency and I have a lot to do. I intend to get it done,” He added, “It’s been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your president. And I love the job, but I love my country more. And all this talk about how I’m angry at all those people who said I should step down, it’s not true.”
He continued to thank Harris and said that choosing her to be his running mate was “the best decision that I made in my whole career.” He continued to endorse her and show his support for electing her as the nominee for the Democratic Party.
“Let me ask you, are you ready to vote for freedom? Are we ready to fight for democracy and for America? Let me ask you, are you ready to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz?” Biden said during his address.
Biden’s address was pushed back as those speaking before him took longer than expected, which cut Biden’s time for his speech. However, he still made an impact while speaking to the voters.
