(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Leaving behind a legacy that spans nearly 80 films and two Academy Awards, a Hollywood legend has been found dead alongside his wife and dog.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed that 95-year-old Gene Hackman and his 63-year-old wife Betsy Arakawa were discovered dead in their New Mexico residence alongside their dog. He and Betsy had been married for 34 years.

While officials are conducting a thorough investigation, preliminary findings suggest no foul play was involved.

“All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant,” Sheriff Mendoza stated. “I want to assure the community and neighborhood that there’s no immediate danger to anyone.”

Born in 1930 in San Bernardino, California, Hackman embodied the American spirit from an early age.

He enlisted in the Marines at just 16 years old before pursuing acting. His career spanned four decades and included unforgettable performances in films like “The French Connection,” “Unforgiven,” “Hoosiers,” and “The Royal Tenenbaums.”

The iconic star retired more than twenty years ago to live a quiet life away from Hollywood’s stress and drama.

“In the 10 years I’ve lived here, I’ve been taken with the excitement and indomitable spirit of this place,” Hackman once said about his adopted hometown of Santa Fe.

There, he became an active community member and served on the board of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum.

The iconic actor retired in 2004 following his role in “Welcome to Mooseport,” citing health concerns after a stress test in New York.

Hackman gracefully stepped away from Hollywood to focus on painting, fishing, and writing novels.

Hackman was not afraid to stand his ground, even in his later years. In 2012, he was involved in a Santa Fe incident where he struck a homeless man in self-defense.

His career included five Academy Award nominations and two wins for his performances in “The French Connection” and “Unforgiven.”

When asked how he wanted to be remembered, Hackman said, “As a decent actor. As someone who tried to portray what was given to them in an honest fashion.”

“I don’t know, beyond that. I don’t think about that often, to be honest. I’m at an age where I should think about it,” he added.

Despite being told he was “least likely to succeed” alongside Dustin Hoffman at the Pasadena Playhouse, Hackman went on to become one of Hollywood’s most respected talents through hard work and determination.

Hackman’s passing marks the end of an era when actors were known for their iconic performances.

He leaves behind three children from his previous marriage to Faye Maltese and a legacy of films that will continue to resonate with audiences for generations to come.
