(TheConservativeTimes.org) – What should have been a typical flight turned into a nightmare for the 80 people aboard a Delta passenger jet that crashed and caught on fire at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

Watch the brand-new video down below.

The plane flipped upside down upon impact, leaving passengers and crew trapped in a dangerous situation.

This harrowing event adds to a series of recent aviation accidents in North America, fueling concerns about the increasing issues with the air transportation system.

Delta flight 4819 departed from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and faced disaster as it attempted to land in Toronto.

Despite challenging weather conditions, including blowing snow and wind gusts reaching 40 mph, all 80 individuals on board miraculously survived the crash.

However, 18 passengers required hospitalization, with three suffering critical injuries. Among the critically injured were a child, a man in his 60s, and a woman in her 40s.

The child was quickly taken to the Hospital for Sick Children and is reportedly in good condition.

The crash caused significant disruption to airport operations, with Toronto Pearson shutting down for over two hours.

This closure led to substantial delays for inbound flights, inconveniencing countless travelers and highlighting the ripple effects of such incidents on the transportation infrastructure.

Toronto Pearson President and CEO Deborah Flint stated, “There was no loss of life, and this is in due part to our heroic and trained professionals, our first responders at the airport.”

“We are very grateful that there was no loss of life and relatively minor injuries,” she continued. “We are very focused on the care and the concern and the passengers and the crew — some of whom have already been reunified with their friends and their families.”

Meanwhile, Delta CEO Ed Bastian issued a statement:

“The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport. I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site. We are working to confirm the details and will share the most current information…as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.”

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, with assistance from the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board, has launched an investigation into the crash.

The agency said it was “deploying a team of investigators following an accident involving an aircraft operated by Delta Airlines…at the Toronto / Lester B. Pearson International Airport, Ontario. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.”

The aircraft involved was a 16-year-old CRJ900 manufactured by Bombardier and operated by Delta’s subsidiary Endeavor Air.

This fact raises concerns about the age and maintenance of aircraft in commercial fleets.

While some officials initially cited high winds as a factor, the fire chief later contradicted these reports, stating that the runway was dry with no crosswind conditions.
