China Adds More New Clean Power Than U.K. In New Data

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – China has added as much clean energy in the first half of this year as the United Kingdom produced from all sources in the first half of last year. Wind and solar power generation skyrocketed in the country that is the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gas.

In China, electricity generation from coal and gas dropped by five percent, according to a new update from the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air. China is pushing ahead in renewable energy as they continue to add record amounts of solar and wind generation.

Li Shuo, the director of the China Climate Hub at the Asia Policy Institute in Washington DC, said, “China is leading against all of its competitors, when it comes to green technology.”

Last year, China installed a record amount of wind and solar enervating capacity, and it has officially taken over their gas and coal energy sources. Forecasts by Rystad Energy say that by 2026, China’s energy source will be solar power alone.

China is responsible for about twenty five percent of carbon output, nearly as much as all of the world’s developed countries combined. Many analysts have said that there can be no real impact on climate change without the support and participation from China.

According to data, carbon dioxide emissions from energy use and cement production has declined, despite it accounting for more than ninety percent of China’s total argon emissions.

Qi Qin, an analyst at CREA, said, “If renewable energy continues to displace coal power generation, this year’s emissions could continue to decrease, potentially making last year the peak year for China’s emissions.”

”Faster than expected energy demand in the first half of this year adds uncertainty, and emissions may stay flat if these trends persist,” Qin continued.
