(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Throwing the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into chaos, an FBI informant admitted to fabricating bribery claims about the Bidens.
Former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov has pleaded guilty to lying about a false bribery scheme involving Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
This admission threatens to undermine the entire foundation of the Republican-led impeachment inquiry in Congress, which relied heavily on Smirnov’s claims.
Smirnov falsely alleged that Ukrainian energy company Burisma paid Joe and Hunter $5 million each around 2015.
However, the FBI’s investigation found no evidence of corruption by Joe despite Smirnov’s assertions.
What’s even more alarming is Smirnov’s alleged connections to Russian intelligence.
He claimed that Russian officials were involved in spreading false stories about Hunter, raising concerns about foreign interference in our political processes.
The case was prosecuted by Special Counsel David Weiss, who also handled Hunter’s gun and tax charges.
Interestingly, Hunter was later pardoned by Joe, who claimed political influence in the legal process – a move that has raised eyebrows among conservatives.
Prosecutors and defense have agreed to recommend a prison sentence of four to six years for Smirnov.
However, many are questioning whether this punishment is enough for potentially undermining the integrity of the political system.
“Despite repeated admonishments that he must provide truthful information to the FBI and that he must not fabricate evidence, the defendant provided false derogatory information,” prosecutors stated.
