(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Former President Donald Trump is expected to sit down with the FBI for an interview following the attempted assassination of the former president.
Donald Trump was attending a rally in Pennsylvania when a gunman opened fire, grazing him with a bullet, killing a rally goer, and injuring two other supporters in the crowd. Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman, was reported dead at the scene after an interaction with Secret Service.
Law enforcement said that they intend to interview Trump to obtain a victim statement. The FBI has already interviewed multiple witnesses, former classmates of the gunman, law enforcement, and authorities following the incident.
Nicole Parker, a former FBI agent, said, “President Trump’s willingness to meet with the FBI Thursday and sit for a victim interview is a clear demonstration of his full cooperation for this investigation. More importantly, in my opinion, it illustrates his respect for the additional victims of the case, fallen Corey Comperatore and injured David Dutch and James Copenhaver. This is not just about him.”
Parker also said that the former president could decline the interview as it’s not mandatory, and it’s not exactly necessary since he’s already spoken publicly regarding the situation.
Multiple investigations have been initiated to find out how Crooks was able to get to a roof outside the rally, with a weapon, and fire multiple shots at the presidential candidate.
New Jersey-based private attorney and former prosecutor David Gelman said that the agents will only be able to ask questions regarding the rally shooting and, although it might not be necessary, it may be beneficial for him.
