Fox News Ratings Have Already Dropped

( – Ratings at Fox News have fallen dramatically since it dropped Tucker Carlson. Many viewers in the crucial category of 25 to 54-year-olds did not tune into Carlson’s replacement, Fox News Tonight. Only 2.6 million viewers watched, compared with an average of 3.7 million that followed Mr. Carlson. During his seven-year career at Fox, Carlson’s viewership outranked CNN and other competitors, particularly among the 25-54 age group.

The popular host fronted his last show on April 21st, and his departure was announced the following Monday. It is unclear exactly why the network ended Carlson’s employment, but rumors suggest he was fired for his part in the Dominion Voting Systems defamation lawsuit.

The two parties settled for $787 million hours before the trial was due to start. Few details of the settlement were published, but Dominion described the result of the suit as a victory and a vindication. The company filed a lawsuit against Fox, accusing the network of promoting President Trump’s claim that the 2020 Presidential election was rigged, partly through the utilization of Dominion products.

Other rumors suggest he was fired for a speech he delivered to members of the conservative Heritage Foundation. In it, Carlson referred to good and evil and called on Americans to pray for the country’s future. According to sources close to Fox owner Rupert Murdoch, the media baron finds religious and spiritual references uncomfortable.

Carlson may also have come under fire because of allegations by his former producer Abby Grossberg. She has filed a lawsuit against Fox, citing misogyny and antisemitism at the network. Her case is one of three known suits filed against Fox in the past two years. A second voting systems company, Smartmatic, is suing the network for defaming the company – again for its coverage of President Trump’s electoral fraud allegations. Smartmatic is seeking compensation of $2.7 billion. If the case is settled, as in the Dominion case, it will likely be a heavy burden on Fox’s finances.
