Georgia High School Shooting Newest Information

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Investigators are looking into the motive behind the deadly shooting that took place at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia.

Four were killed during the shooting: two teachers and two students. They were football coach Richard Aspinwall and math teacher Christina Irimie. Students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angelo were killed as well.

As well as the deaths, there were eight students and one teacher that were injured. They are all expected to recover, according to Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith.

Colt Gray is the fourteen year old suspect and student that attends the school. He surrendered at the scene to the school resource officers and was immediately taken into custody. Gray will be charged with murder and he will be tried as an adult.

As of now he is being held at Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center, according to the Department Juvenile Justice.

An AR-style weapon was used in the shooting and officials don’t have answers yet to how Gary was able to obtain the gun and get it into the school. Gray was interviewed by the FBI but no further details have been released.

The sheriff said that teachers at the school had new IDs that would alert law enforcement during an active incident and these IDs were just put in place one week ago.

Last year in May, authorities interviewed the suspect, who was thirteen years old, and questioned him about threats to commit a school shooting. The FBI said they received anonymous tips that he was putting online threats to commit a school shooting and that these threats included photos of guns.

The dad of the suspect said that they do have hunting rifles in the home. “Colt is allowed to use them when supervised but does not have unfettered access to them,” he said.

An officer said they couldn’t do anything in response to the incidents and threats from a year ago because of their inconsistent nature.
