GOOD: Diversity Department Shuttered

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – In a crushing blow to woke corporate agendas, Boeing is dismantling its Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) department.

Although Boeing will integrate its DEI department into a broader HR team, the move will sure to ruffle liberal feathers.

This restructuring is part of a larger overhaul under new CEO Kelly Ortberg, who is reducing headcount by 10% to streamline operations and boost efficiency.

“Our team strived every day to support the evolving brilliance and creativity of our workforce,” she penned. “The team achieved so much – sometimes imperfectly, never easily – and dreamed of doing much more still.”

Ortberg added, “All of it has been worth it. Because behind every effort there has been a person: An unheard voice, an idea waiting to bloom. The people make the company what it is, and it’s the people who will restore it to a state of trusted excellence.”

The decision reflects a shift towards a merit-based performance system, pushing back against the left’s obsession with identity politics in the workplace.

Boeing’s move comes after receiving scathing criticism from tech mogul Elon Musk.

The Tesla CEO called out the aerospace company for prioritizing DEI over safety and quality control after a recent incident with an Alaska Airlines flight.

Regarding the dismantling of its DEI department, Boeing issued a statement:

“Boeing remains committed to recruiting and retaining top talent and creating an inclusive work environment where every teammate around the world can perform at their best while supporting the company’s mission, a merit-based performance system with procedures aimed at encouraging an equality of opportunity, not of outcomes.”

The DEI unit was closed after conservative influencer Robby Starbuck threatened an online campaign against Boeing’s woke policies.

Boeing is not alone in this shift. Other American icons like Harley-Davidson, John Deere, Toyota and Ford have also scaled back their DEI programs.

Critics of DEI initiatives argue that these programs are fundamentally unfair. They create a system where some employees are given preferential treatment based on some characteristics rather than abilities or work ethic.
