Google Restricts Election-Related Topics in Gemini?!

( – Google announced that their AI tool, Gemini, will reject and restrict election-related content that people may be searching for online.

There has been some concern over artificial intelligence and how it can affect elections, especially with the presidential election around the corner. Google said that it has already rolled out these restrictions in the United States and India and that this was the beginning of the company’s new planned approach to elections.

“Out of an abundance of caution on such an important topic, we have begun to roll out restrictions on the types of election-related queries for which Gemini will return responses,” Google wrote in a blog post covering the topic.

There is a growing concern regarding false information and different threats that might come from artificial intelligence related to elections.

A spokesperson from Google also said, “As we shared last December, in preparation for the many elections happening around the world and out of an abundance of caution, we’re restricting the types of election-related queries for which Gemini will return responses.”.

This announcement was made shortly after Google pulled Gemini off the market due to a large number of inaccurate images it generated from user prompts. Gemini had given false images of the founding fathers, showed historical figures as the wrong gender, and generated violent images.

Misinformation has been an issue for years now as there have been multiple instances online and through social media that misinformation has proliferated, and with AI there is a new way that misinformation can be created and shared.
