(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Refusing to be part of the extreme agenda, Michigan State Rep. James DeSana is taking a bold stand against Monroe County Community College’s gender policies for ignoring “biological reality” and jeopardizing women’s safety.
DeSana has declared his opposition to Monroe County Community College’s bathroom policy, which allows individuals to use restrooms based on their gender identity rather than biological sex.
This decision was a deciding factor behind DeSana’s choice not to attend a college groundbreaking ceremony.
“I declined an invitation to participate in a groundbreaking ceremony because I cannot condone the MCCC bathroom policy, and I don’t want to legitimize it,” DeSana said about the institution’s practices.
His decision seeks to support students and employees who fear consequences for voicing their opposition.
“I’m protesting on behalf of students who are not able to stand up for themselves because they are in the middle of their degree program, and for employees who fear losing their job if they speak out,” DeSana expressed.
DeSana’s standpoint on this matter finds common ground with figures like author J.K. Rowling, who also advocates for protecting female-only sports, bathrooms and locker rooms.
This alignment highlights the broader debate over the balance between inclusivity and upholding traditional gender distinctions.
DeSana’s protest looks to hold the college accountable and create a public discussion on these pressing issues.
His actions reflect his commitment to traditional values, challenging the college’s departure from biological norms.
The representative emphasized the importance of protecting women’s safety, saying that the college’s “policy ignores biological reality and the reasons why we keep those things separate. This is about protecting women and making sure they feel safe.”
In turn, MCCC President Dr. Kojo Quartey labeled DeSana’s withdrawal as “regrettable” and defended the college policy by claiming that it aligns with state and federal law.
Quartey emphasized that the policy reflects practices at major universities, including the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.
He also highlighted that the institution remained committed to inclusivity and diversity efforts.
However, the move has sparked conflicts as the college faces protests with signs stating, “MCCC allows MEN in girls bathrooms.
