Group Tried To Censor Ted Cruz

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – A report from the House Judiciary Committee released Monday, June 26, detailed the efforts of Pennsylvania’s Democratic Department of State to censor Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s reelection campaign ahead of the 2022 midterms.

Cruz posted on Twitter on Oct. 27, 2022, about early ballot counting ahead of the election, as the New York Post reported, criticizing Pennsylvania’s ballot counting practices and saying that “the rest of the country manages to get it done on election night.”

An official from the Pennsylvania Department of State reported Cruz’s tweet to the Elections Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EI-ISAC), a non-profit organization propped up by the Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA), which is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The state department official’s name is redacted in the report.

The official described Cruz’s tweet in an email to EI-ISAC as “misleading to voters,” and that the senator was falsely stating that because the ballots are not being counted on election day, that means there is voter fraud.

The report says the non-profit organization forwarded the email while cc’ing four Pennsylvania state government officials.

Though the Twitter post was not removed, the Pennsylvania official also reported the senator’s posts on Facebook, which the company acted on. Twitter users added additional information to Cruz’s tweet via the social media platform’s community notes feature, saying, “Absentee, mailed and provisional ballots cannot all be counted election night.”

Cruz told the Daily Caller that “Big Government and Big Tech have been working together for years” to censor him, as well as others who believe in free speech and want to see censorship on social media platforms cease. Cruz also said that the Pennsylvania state official’s attempt at censoring him “highlights the Left’s disregard” for Americans’ constitutional rights and “contempt” for opposing viewpoints.

Cruz continued by saying he is conducting his own investigation through the Senate Commerce Committee to reveal “government-tech collusion” and hold those institutions accountable to Americans.
