(TheConservativeTimes.org) – On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris announced a new program funded by several far-left megadonors to protect “Democracy” from the dangers posed by artificial intelligence (AI).
Reports show The Open Society Foundations, funded by left-leaning billionaire George Soros, The Democracy Fund, and The Omidyar Network together contribute more than $200 million to the initiative. The organizations ostensibly want to protect elections and “marginalized” communities from AI’s potentially disastrous effects.
Pierre Omidyar, eBay’s billionaire founder, has donated about $2 million to organizations that advocate for slashing police budgets. One such organization is DefundPolice.org. But the donation hasn’t prevented Omidyar from capitalizing on people’s fears for their safety by backing private security companies.
Omidyar also made personal investments in businesses that would benefit from the rising need for security services. Bond, a New York City-based firm that describes itself as an “Uber for personal guards,” reportedly counts Omidyar among some of its key backers. Bond highlighted social disturbance’ and growing criminality in marketing brochures.
OpenSecrets revealed that Soros contributed over $178 million to Democrats and nothing to Republicans in the 2022 midterms. As recorded by the Federal Election Commission, Soros’ son Alex recently assumed control of Open Society Foundations and has heavily donated to Democrats.
OpenSecrets shows Omidyar gave NeverTrump PAC $250,000 in 2016.
The Voter Registration Project (VRP) received $10 million from Open Society Foundations and $500,000 from Omidyar Democracy Fund. A Capital Research Center analysis revealed that VRP, a “nonpartisan” entity, sought to assist Democrats in the 2020 elections.
According to their website, 5.1 million people have registered to vote in the United States since 2015, thanks in major part to the efforts of VRP, which was “commissioned” by John Podesta, who is now the White House Deputy Chief of Staff.
The Ford Foundation seeded the Black Feminist Fund $15 million in 2021.
The Democracy Fund, MacArthur Foundation, Open Society Foundations, and Ford Foundation have contributed over $500 million to finance and influence local media outlets for five years.
The MacArthur Foundation has supported Planned Parenthood, the Tides Foundation, and the Environmental Defense Fund.
According to a White House information sheet, Harris will launch the initiative during the “Global Summit on AI Safety” in the UK on Wednesday.
