(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Kamala Harris has said that Donald Trump is playing “political games” on immigration as Kamala Harris visited the U.S. border to strengthen her position around immigration.
Harris was speaking in Arizona when she declared the United States a “sovereign nation” and a “country of immigrants.” She said that she would strengthen the controls at the Southern border as she continued to try to “fix our broken system of immigration.”
Harris said, “I reject the false choice that suggests we must choose either between securing our border and creating a system that is orderly, safe and humane.” She added, “We can and we must do both.”
She spoke against Donald Trump for denying the bipartisan package that would have changed the immigration system, saying “It should be in effect today, producing results, in real time right now.”
After the bill collapsed, the Biden Administration announced the new rules which would halt the asylum system at the United States Southern border. The arrests at the border since then have plummeted substantially.
Harris said if she was elected president that she would take “further action to keep the border closed” which includes stiffening the punishments for those who cross between ports of entry.
“He separated families,” she said, “he ripped toddlers out of their mothers’ arms, put children in cages and tried to end protection of Dreamers.”
Before she put out this speech, she walked the barrier constructed during the Obama administration. During her visit, she received a brief from customs and border protection officials regarding the dangers of the flow of fentanyl across the border.
After walking the area and speaking to the people, she said, “They’ve got a tough job and they need, rightly, support to do their job.”
Donald Trump spoke out after Harris’ visit, saying that she was “getting killed on the border,” and he blamed the Biden Administration’s border policies for the high levels of migration at the border.
