Immigrants Receive Relief From Deportation Under New Biden Order

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – The Biden Administration released a “Keeping Families Together” executive order that had immigrants waiting to submit their forms for the program.

Cecilia is one immigrant that sat at a computer refreshing the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services webpage to submit a form for this new executive order. When she was able to submit it, less than one day later she received an email that she waited over twenty years to get.

“I see that I got approved and I’m like, oh that was quick,” she said. “I was lost for words. A whole bunch of emotions were going on.”

She is among the first of immigrants who received a parole in place, which is a temporary relief from deportation under the program that allows undocumented spouses and stepchildren to apply for permanent legal residence without having to leave the country.

Noncitizen spouses were originally able to apply for legal status, but they would have to apply from their home countries and they could be banned from the United States for ten years.

Joe Biden happily launched the executive order saying that to keep families together this was a “commonsense fix.” Biden added, “This action is a better way. It doesn’t tear families apart, while requiring every undocumented spouse to fulfill their obligations under the law.”

It’s said that this program would affect half a million non citizen spouses and fifty thousand children.

Applicants must pass the required background checks and be in the country unlawfully to qualify for the program. They also must prove that they’ve lived in the United States for at least ten years and that they are married to a U.S. citizen before mid June of this year.
