Iran Successfully Launches Satellite That Concerns Officials

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Iran, using a rocket made by its paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, has successfully launched a satellite into space. This has concerned the West as they fear that this could advance Tehran’s ballistic missile program.

Iran stated that the launch was a success and was the second launch to put a satellite with a rocket into orbit. Footage was later released by Iranian media that showed the rocket blast off from the mobile launcher.

This launch comes as tensions are heightened over the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. During this war, Tehran had launched a direct missile-and-drone attack on Israel. Iran is continuing to produce uranium at weapon grade levels, concerning experts about Tehran’s program.

Iran said that the satellite-carrying rocket was named the Quentin-100 which was made by a state-owned subsidiary of Iran’s Defense Ministry and experts at the Aerospace Research Institute. They said the purpose of building the rocket was to “test hardware and software systems for orbital maneuver technology validation.”

The U.S. State Department and the American military haven’t spoken out about the Iranian launch. However, in the past they have said that Iran’s satellite launches go against the U.N. Security Council resolution. They’ve also called on Tehran to partake in no activity that involves ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons.

Under Iran’s previous president, Hassan Rouhani, the Islamic Republic slowed their space program to avoid tensions with the West. However, it’s unclear what Iran’s new president will do with the program.
