(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Joe Biden, the United States President, has said that he will be providing eight billion dollars of military aid for Ukraine. This announcement comes right before Biden has plans to meet with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Biden said that the “surge in security assistance” would be provided in two transactions of five billion dollars and two and a half billion dollars in the package deal. It also includes the provision of Joint Standoff Weapon munitions to help with “Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities.”
Zelenskyy thanked Joe Biden and both parties of Congress for the “long-range missiles” and other military hardware that was supplied.
“We will use this assistance in the most efficient and transparent manner to achieve our major common goal: victory for Ukraine, just and lasting peace, and transatlantic security,” said Zelenskyy on X.
Biden has said that helping Ukraine in their war has been a “top priority” during his time in office. He’s stated that the five billion would be ensnared by the end of the U.S. fiscal year.
The two and a half billion for Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative will allow the administration to buy weapons for Ukraine from companies instead of taking it from U.S. stock.
Zelenskyy is expected to meet with Vice President and Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris next week ahead of the presidential elections. Donald Trump stated at a rally in North Carolina that he would not be meeting with Volodymyr Zenelskyy since he believes the billions in aid has been sent to a “man who refused to make a deal.”
