Keir Starmer Goes to U.S. to Seek Meetings With Presidential Candidates

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Keir Starmer is going to the United States for his third trip within the last few months as aides continue pressing for meetings with both presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

The Prime Minister went to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where Volodymyr Zeleneskyy, the Ukrainian president, was pushing for a deal to use Storm Shadow missiles against Russia. Zelenskyy is expecting to meet with both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump during his visit as part of his efforts to propose a “victory plan” that maps out their path to defeating Vladimir Putin in Russia.

The British Prime Minister will be giving a speech to the UN summit arguing that taking an international lead on the war, climate change, and poverty could stop issues from “rebounding” onto the UK.

Zelenskyy is expected to meet with United States President Joe Biden, as well as both presidential candidates, as he pushes for the approval to use Storm Shadow missiles in the war as he said that this season will determine “the future of this war.”

The United Kingdom has been pushing the United States to support the use of Storm Shadow missiles, but Starmer’s recent visit to speak with Joe Biden did not resolve any of the sticking points over the use of the weapons. If there’s a breakthrough in the talks this week, there is still an unlikely chance that a decision will be made and announced at the summit this week.

The White House has said that they will “discuss the state of the war between Russia and Ukraine, including Ukraine’s strategic planning and US support for Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.”

During Trump’s rally in North Carolina, he may potentially meet with Zelenskyy, although he has criticized the U.S. for financially supporting Ukraine in the war with Russia. During his two day visit to New York, Strarmer is expected to visit with multiple world leaders and chief executives.
