(TheConservativeTimes.org) – The Trump administration has delivered a crushing blow to international drug cartels with a massive seizure of half a billion dollars worth of cocaine.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced the historic bust that prevented 45,000 pounds of deadly drugs from flooding American streets.

During a ceremony, Secretary Noem proudly revealed details of the unprecedented operation that intercepted 22.5 tons of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana.
The massive haul was seized from 14 different drug smuggling vessels off the coasts of Mexico, Central, and South America in a coordinated effort by U.S. Coast Guard cutters Stone and Mohawk.
“Today is a historic day here at Port Everglades; over 22.5 tons, or 45,000 pounds of cocaine and 50 pounds of marijuana, are valued at over a half a billion dollars, are going to be offloaded and taken out of circulation,” declared Secretary Noem.
The operation targeted many of the eight cartel groups Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently designated as foreign terrorist organizations.
These criminal enterprises have been flooding American communities with deadly drugs, contributing to the alarming rise in overdose deaths across the nation.
Admiral Kevin Lunday delivered a stern warning to drug traffickers during the announcement:
“Under the president’s orders and our secretary’s direction, we are ensuring 100% operational control of the border. Our message to these cartels is this: We own the sea, not you. We will find you out there, and we will take you down before you reach our border.”
The successful operation is part of President Trump’s thorough strategy to secure America’s borders both on land and at sea.
Since President Trump returned to office, over 80,000 pounds of illegal drugs have been seized, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to stopping the flow of deadly narcotics.
“This action is a testimony to President Trump’s commitment to delivering for the American people and his unwavering dedication to our military strength, to our border security, our law enforcement, to our producing incredible results,” said Secretary Noem.
The drugs seized in this operation originated primarily in Colombia before being trafficked through Mexico toward the United States.
In addition to maritime interdictions, the Trump administration has managed to secure the extradition of 29 Mexican drug cartel bosses to the United States for prosecution in the past month alone.
As traditional trafficking routes are disrupted, desperate cartels are being forced to find new ways to smuggle their deadly products.
“Fewer families are going to be torn apart by addiction, that fewer lives are going to be lost to overdoses,” Noem said, highlighting the human impact of this successful operation.
The Coast Guard, which Noem described as “the premier law enforcement maritime agency in the world,” collaborated with tactical air crews and federal partners for this operation.
All seized drugs will be destroyed, ensuring they never reach American streets.
This massive drug bust represents just the beginning of the Trump administration’s renewed commitment to border security.
