(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Former Fox News anchor, now the host of the “Megyn Kelly Podcast,” recently described her first meeting with former President Donald Trump after the two exchanged words in an interview leading up to Fox News 2015 Republican Primary debate when he was running for president in the 2016 election.
The former news anchor told the story of their recent meeting on an episode of her podcast, saying that it was “frankly great to see him.” The story of the positive encounter comes after Trump publicly called Kelly a “bimbo” and said she was “crazy.”
Kelly discussed her one-on-one meeting with the former president at a Turning Point USA conference, saying that the interaction was positive and that their prior hostility was “under the bridge.” She specifically described Trump as “magnanimous.”
Kelly also said that Trump had an “alluring aura,” and that he “commands the room.” She also claims that Trump “could not have been nicer” during their interaction and had “interesting” thoughts about the primary debates. Kelly stated she “wouldn’t bet on it” when discussing whether Trump would attend the first Fox News Republican primary debate.
Trump has stated that he would not participate in the primary debate due to how much he is leading in the current polls. According to the RealClearPolitics polling average, Trump is dominating the would-be Republican nomination vote with 53.7% of the vote. His strongest challenger, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, has seen his numbers decline in recent weeks, now sitting at just over 20%.
There is precedent for presidents who have already become the nominee not participating in primary debates due to how far ahead they are in public polling. Most parties also do not have primaries when an incumbent is running for re-election. However, Trump’s situation is unique due to his running for a non-consecutive second term, which has only been done once by President Grover Cleveland, who served his first term from 1885 to 1889, and again from 1893 to 1897.
