Schiff only managed to get himself appointed in a rush by California Governor Gavin Newsom after Senator Laphonza Bulter surprisingly resigned.
This controversial move ensures Schiff get seniority in the Senate before the next batch of elected Senators arrives.
Schiff is widely known for his relentless attacks on President-elect Donald Trump and his role in the partisan impeachment trials.
He has been appointed to the Senate seat previously held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
The Democrat establishment’s manipulation of the system is evident in this calculated political plot.
By appointing Schiff now rather than waiting for the official start of his term, Newsom has given him an unfair seniority advantage over other incoming senators.
Schiff’s rise to the Senate comes after a contentious primary race where he narrowly emerged victorious to face Republican Steve Garvey, who posed a significant challenge to Schiff.
As part of his campaign, Garvey called for a return to free market principles, which resonated with many Californians tired of the state’s suffocating regulations and high taxes.
However, the deck was stacked against him from the start. California has an overwhelming Democrat voter registration advantage of 10.2 million Democrats to 5.5 million Republicans.
The contrast between Schiff and Garvey could not be clearer. While Garvey stood for traditional values and the voice of everyday Californians, Schiff represents the continuation of the state’s radical leftist agenda.
His focus on so-called “economic issues” like homelessness is likely to result in more government overreach and wasteful spending.
