(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Four members of an Allen, Texas family were found dead by police last Monday in what appears to be a murder-suicide just weeks after one daughter drowned, NBC News reported.
Allen Police said last Tuesday that Farman Sherwani, his wife Layla, and their two sons, 12-year-old Shaheen and 2-year-old Matteen, were found dead by officers responding to a welfare call at the home.
According to the Islamic Association of Allen, which identified the Sherwanis for authorities, the Sherwanis’ 4-year-old daughter Lyian drowned in a swimming pool three weeks earlier.
In an email to NBC News, Allen Police Sergeant Jonathan Maness confirmed that detectives believe that the 4-year-old’s death is a factor in last week’s incident.
Officers responded to the home last Monday after another resident reported that she had been locked out for two hours and was unable to reach anyone inside. After additional family members arrived at the residence, the responding officers were able to gain entry to the home where they discovered the four bodies, according to the police.
The Islamic Association of Allen held a prayer vigil for the Sherwani family on Tuesday.
Abdul Rahman Bashir, the imam at the mosque, told Fox 4 that the family were members of the mosque.
Bashir described the Sherwanis as a “close-knit family” with some family members living within walking distance on the same street. He confirmed that the family was going through a difficult time following the drowning death of their daughter and said despite having so many family around them, “they were really broken.”
According to Imam Bashir, the mosque lost another family of six to murder-suicide two years ago. He told Fox 4 that the mosque provided mental health services for members of the congregation throughout the week.
