(TheConservativeTimes.org) – A new type of vape or e-cigarette now has built-in video games and are being illegally sold in New York and other states across America. Flavors like “merry berry” and “cherry pop” are available in these disposable “smart vapes.” Not only this, but they have built in HD scents preloaded with multiple games.
The games that can be found on these vapes include faux versions of Tetris and Pac-Man. Digital prizes are also offered as incentives based on how much someone vapes. Critics have expressed caution to the younger generation and warned of the potential effects on America’s youth.
New York Association of Convenience Stores President Alison Ritchie said, “Banned candy flavors melded with ‘Candy Crush’-type video games is a predatory recipe to get teens hooked.”
Ritchie’s group is continually warning parents, teachers, and law enforcement about these vapes and to be on the lookout for them. They added that many of these are being made in China and that federal or state regulators have done a terrible job at preventing them from entering into the United States.
Smart vapes are banned in the majority of the United States, but they can be purchased by anyone over the internet who claims to be twenty-one years or older for just under eighteen dollars.
Under state law, it is illegal to sell flavored tobacco and vaping products, except menthol, mint, or wintergreen flavored.
Vapes such as these usually have nicotine in addition to other chemicals that are linked to many health risks from long-term use.
University of California researchers said that “coupling nicotine to existing youth behaviors, such as video gaming and screen time use, could broaden the smart electronic cigarette market to include youth with no prior interest in nicotine products, while also reinforcing nicotine addiction among current users.”
