(TheConservativeTimes.org) – President Trump secured a historical success against deadly cartels as Mexico just handed 29 drug cartel lords to the United States in a massive extradition orchestrated by his administration.
See the video below.
The transfer, which includes Rafael Caro Quintero—the notorious murderer of a DEA agent—signals that Mexico is finally buckling under pressure to combat the deadly cartels flooding the country with drugs and violence.
The extradition marks one of the largest in Mexico’s history and comes after intense pressure from the United States to address the cartel crisis or face tariffs on Mexican imports.
The defendants, taken into custody in the U.S., include leaders from five of the six Mexican drug cartels recently designated as “foreign terrorist organizations” by American authorities.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi did not mince words about the significance of the operation:
“As President Trump has made clear, cartels are terrorist groups, and this Department of Justice is devoted to destroying cartels and transnational gangs.”
Among those extradited is Rafael Caro Quintero, wanted for the 1985 torture and murder of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.
For decades, this cartel leader has evaded American justice, even after the U.S. government offered a $20 million reward for his capture.
Moreover, the defendants face a litany of serious charges, including racketeering, drug trafficking, murder, illegal firearms possession, and money laundering.
They were transported to various U.S. cities, including Chicago, Houston, and New York City, where they will finally face the American justice system after years of operating with impunity south of the border.
The extradition came during a critical visit to Washington by Mexico’s foreign minister for trade and security negotiations.
The timing is no coincidence—President Trump had threatened to impose tariffs on Mexican imports if the country did not take decisive action on cartels, illegal immigration, and fentanyl production.
Unlike previous administrations that allowed Mexico to ignore America’s security concerns, Trump’s administration demanded results and got them.
Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove credited the White House’s approach:
“Today’s actions are a consequence of a White House that negotiates from a position of strength, and an Attorney General who is willing to lead the Department with courage and ferocity.”
Meanwhile, former DEA chief of international operations Mike Vigil has described the extradition as “historic,” noting that Mexico typically only extradites a few suspects at a time.
For too long, Mexican cartels have exploited open borders to traffic drugs, weapons, and people into the communities.
For American families who have lost loved ones to cartel violence or the fentanyl epidemic, this extradition represents a glimmer of justice in what has been a devastating crisis largely ignored by previous administrations.
It proves that strong leadership and unwavering resolve can achieve what diplomatic niceties and foreign aid packages could not – actual cooperation in dismantling the criminal organizations threatening American lives.
