(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Records released last week showed the security plans in place ahead of Trump’s Pennsylvania rally where former President Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt.
Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe sent an email a week before the rally saying, “It’s going to be a circus there. Not enough room for the crowd that I believe will attend.”
This email, along with other documents, have been released in response to requests under the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law. However, some agencies are still refusing to release any documents or information associated with the shooting.
Edward Lenz of the Adams Township Police Department emailed Butler County District Attorney regarding a potential request for more assistance. “I have had several discussions with USSS, and as of today they are requesting assistance from us with providing sniper or overwatch support, counterassault teams, and a quick reaction force,” Lenz wrote.
“Our current plan is to provide two sniper elements, two mobile counterassault teams, and a quick reaction force,” he said. He also said that there would be a quick response force dedicated to addressing any high risk incidents.
The security concerns around the rally are being investigated because of an assassination attempt on former president Trump. Thomas Matthew Crooks, the twenty-year old shooter, was able to get on top of a nearby building with an assault rifle and fire at Donald Trump and the crowd of spectators.
This resulted in Trump’s ear being grazed by a bullet, two people in the crowd experiencing injuries, and another spectator being killed.
Following this event, there were messages and conversations regarding the Secret Service and how the local law enforcement felt they were being thrown under the bus for the lack of security.
