(TheConservativeTimes.org) – In a shocking betrayal of family trust, National Football League (NFL) Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has filed a lawsuit against his father’s company, alleging over $12 million theft.

See the tweet below.

Mayfield and his wife Emily filed the lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas in Austin.

The lawsuit targets a group of interconnected entities, including Camwood Capital Management Group, which is owned by Mayfield’s father, James W. Mayfield, and brother, Matt Mayfield.

The Mayfields claim that between 2018 and 2021, substantial assets were improperly taken from them without authorization or proper documentation.

The lawsuit alleged that these funds were used “however they desired, including to fund acquisitions or to cover general operating expenses (such as to meet payroll obligations).”

In addition to the severity of the situation, the Mayfields declared, “None of those efforts could alter the reality that Defendants took money from Plaintiffs with no plan or ability to repay it.”

The heart of this lawsuit lies in accusations against James W. Mayfield and Matt Mayfield, who are intimately tied to these businesses.

“For the period of time that Plaintiffs’ funds were being funneled to Defendants, Plaintiffs were the primary source of funding and capitalization for Defendants. In exchange, Plaintiffs received nothing,” the suit read.

Moreover, a confidential settlement reached in January required Camwood Capital to repay $11,741,000 plus interest starting September 30.

Despite Mayfield’s well-earned NFL fortunes, reportedly ranging from $85.3 million to potentially $155.3 million, this amount marks a notable breach of trust.

Nevertheless, the lawsuit asserted that not a single dollar has been repaid, the required loan refinancing has yet to occur, and access to financial records has been denied.
