Oceans Break Record For Warmest Temperatures

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Ocean temperatures reached an all-time high last month as this past February marked the warmest in recorded history, according to the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S).

Compared to the previous February, the temperatures were only a bit higher, but February temperatures have continued to rise over time. The average air temperature was also high, as it marked the ninth consecutive warm month.

The temperatures continue to grow both in the air and in the water, which can be hard on polar oceans, marine life, and humans. Scientists warned about the hottest January coming our way and the records have stood up to that warning.

Experts say that the key to preventing this threat of increasing global temperatures is to combat the presence of greenhouse gasses. After the El Nino event, many scientists said that the temperatures might calm down but that the marine temperatures stayed at a surprisingly high level.

This can cause a lot of issues for not only humans but also sea life who are in the rising temps. Coral bleach when they are exposed to heat stress, which can make them vulnerable and fragile, destroying marine life.

Although El Nino is to blame for some of the current weather, climate change is one of the biggest factors affecting the warmth on the planet. , “Rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are the only way to stop global temperatures increasing.”

Climate Scientist Richard Allan said, “What is more surprising is that sea surface temperatures are at record levels over regions far away from the center of the El Nino action, such as the tropical Atlantic and Indian Ocean.”
