(TheConservativeTimes.org) – In a shocking turn of events, Hollywood actor Jay Johnston has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol protests.
Johnston, known for his voice role as Jimmy Pesto Sr. on the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” has been sentenced to a year and a day in jail for his presence at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The actor pleaded guilty to a felony charge of obstruction of law enforcement after striking a plea deal that dropped three other charges.
The prosecution’s aggressive stance led to Johnston’s arrest in June 2023 in California.
In a dramatic development, he was identified with the help of internet detectives and three acquaintances.
Authorities claim that Johnston moved closer to police lines during the protest and helped push others against officers.
Johnston’s case is just one of over 1,500 prosecutions related to the January 6 event. It stands in contrast to the lack of prosecution for violent rioters who burned cities across America in 2020.
The actor had booked flights to Washington on January 4, 2021. He returned to Los Angeles three days later, only to find himself caught in the crosshairs of a politically motivated witch hunt.
Documentary evidence showed him filming the chaotic crowd with his phone, texting later about the “mess” he witnessed.
After his prison sentence, Johnston will be forced to two years of supervised release and must pay a $2,000 fine.
