(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Republican lawmakers discovered that a 2015 email chain reportedly revealed proof of the corruption behind the Biden family’s dealings with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.
While then-Vice President Joe Biden threatened to withhold U.S. aid if the Ukrainian government did not fire its top prosecutor, Hunter Biden and Burisma worked against any investigation or prosecution of Burisma and corruption charges against founder Zlochevsky. During a trip to Ukraine, Joe Biden pressured Ukrainian officials to fire Shokin, the prosecutor investigating Zlochevsky, which greatly assisted Burisma and, subsequently, Hunter Biden.
“Our President is compromised, he should resign and be forever condemned,” said Republican Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana. This discovery comes as House Republicans could even attempt to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, or even President Biden.
While the GOP is divided on whether to impeach some key officials in the Biden administration, there is the idea circulating now of using the Holman rule to cut the salaries of Biden administration officials as a punitive measure against them. “If we’ve got a problem…[that is] not high crimes and misdemeanors…the proper procedure is to cut his salary in the appropriations process,” Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado, a member of the House Freedom Caucus and House Judiciary Committee, told Politico.
However, Republicans could be setting up a case for impeachment against President Biden, given the potential for foreign bribery. Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri, both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said that the emails point to the Bidens being tied to such a scheme. If this narrative continues to find more evidence to its backing, impeachment could be more solidified amongst the Republican caucus, even while members are divided on the impeachment of administrative officials.
House Republicans in the Oversight Committee will be continuing to probe the potential ethical misconduct in the Biden family. Chairman James Comer stated, “Evidence obtained by Committee Republicans reveals Joe Biden lied to the American people…Oversight Committee Republicans will continue pressing for answers.” With mounted pressure, this could undermine Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign if more action is taken against him by Congress.
