(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Since president Biden entered the oval office in 2021, the last several years have been challenging times for the United States and average working class families. Citizens across the country have been faced with soaring crime in urban areas, ideological conflicts in education centers across the union, and a suffocating increase in the cost of living with inflation at levels not seen in 40 years. In recent months, months, storms, hurricanes, earthquakes and fires have devastated the western part of the nation, creating tragic devastation and taking the lives and property of hundreds (and maybe thousands in one case) of individuals across the Pacific region. In Hawaii, the deadliest wildfires in American history occurred over the summer in Maui.
Even along the east coast, storms have ravaged communities. Hurricane Idalia impacted the western Gulf Coast of Florida in late August. On August 30th the storm made landfall as a category 3 hurricane. The storm produced massive gusts of wind, widespread flooding, and significant rainfall. Storm surges of 16 feet reached inland areas and were paired with 130 mile-per-hour winds. Roads near Apalachee Bay and the big bend region of the Sunshine state leading into the panhandle were washed out with flooding and storm damage. The governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis made many appearances in the region following the storm and even requested federal assistance in cleanup efforts. Two individuals are confirmed to have perished in the hurricane in the Sunshine state.
In Louisiana, federal flood insurance premiums are skyrocketing. It is expected that these premiums will increase over 700% in the next few years. Individuals in the area simply cannot afford this insane increase, and many have backed out of buying homes. Experts predict the soaring premiums will result in a sharp outmigration of residents from Southern Louisiana. In a lawsuit, Louisiana and nine other states sued the federal government attempting to block the colossal increases in these insurance rates.
