Terrorist Groups Promise Return of Intifada

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – The Deputy Head of the political bureau of Hamas met in Beruit with a delegation from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine on Saturday where the two called on their organizations to escalate opposition to Israel, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Saleh al-Arouri met with a Popular Front leadership delegation led by Deputy Secretary-General Jamil Mazhar. During the meeting, the two groups urged the Palestinian Authority to “return to the intifada” to “achieve unity” for the creation of a Palestinian homeland.

In the meeting, the leaders reviewed the goals of the two organizations and also discussed the clashes that erupted last week at the Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, Ain al-Hilweh. They reiterated their support for all parties to maintain a ceasefire in the camp and emphasized that internal fighting within the camps must be prohibited.

The two factions also affirmed their desire for peace between Lebanese authorities and citizens, particularly in the Sidon region and southern Lebanon.

Hamas is the political organization controlling the Gaza Strip. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine is a Syrian-based group that also has a presence in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Both Hamas and The Popular Front are reportedly funded by Iran.

In August after Saleh al-Arouri threatened war against Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran and Hamas would pay a “full price” for any terror attacks against his country.

Arouri said the Netanyahu government’s “extremist policies” will cause “all-out war in the region” resulting in Israel suffering “resounding defeat” and leading to its withdrawal from the West Bank.

Netanyahu told his cabinet that those who finance, organize, or wage “terror against Israel” would “pay the full price.”

The prime minister dismissed Arouri’s comments noting that there is a reason the Deputy Head made these remarks “from his hiding place in Lebanon.”
