(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Highlighting the extent of the corruption on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ watch, the Pentagon has failed its seventh consecutive audit after being unable to account for a staggering $824 billion budget.
This glaring failure exposes the deep-rooted financial mismanagement within the military establishment and raises serious questions about the government’s ability to protect taxpayer dollars.
The Department of Defense received a “disclaimer of opinion” from auditors, indicating they did not have enough information to form an accurate assessment of its finances.
This lack of transparency is alarming, especially considering the Pentagon’s massive budget and its critical role in national security.
The recurring audit failures highlight a systemic problem that has persisted for years despite repeated calls for accountability from conservative lawmakers and watchdogs.
While the Pentagon claims to be making progress, it has never passed an audit since it was legally required to conduct them several years ago.
This consistent failure raises red flags about potential waste, fraud and abuse within the military-industrial complex.
The sheer scale of financial mismanagement is staggering. The U.S. Defense Department reports $3.8 trillion in assets and $4 trillion in liabilities, making financial tracking difficult.
However, this complexity does not justify the continued lack of accountability. The Pentagon should be held to a higher standard if American citizens can be scrutinized over minor financial discrepancies.
In response to the situation, Rep. Tim Burchett stated:
“Pentagon that has billions of dollars that they hide, we don’t ask for any accounting of. They never pass an audit in the history of audits. I’ve often said the only way we’re really going to get to the bottom of this is somebody’s going to walk out of one of these labs with this information and puts it out on the internet before they commit suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head five times.”
Pentagon Comptroller Michael McCord attempted to put a positive spin on this dismal performance, claiming that the department “has turned a corner in its understanding of the depth and breadth of its challenges.”
Concerningly, this issue has been a bipartisan concern for over a decade, yet little concrete action has been taken.
