Trump DA Caught Breaking the Law!

Corruption-related word cloud, highlighting corruption, political, bribery.

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Adding a new controversy to her already tainted reputation, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis faces a $22,000 penalty for violating Georgia’s Open Records Act.

Specifically, the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch exposed Willis’ attempt to conceal communications related to the January 6 Capitol attack investigation.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ordered Willis to pay Judicial Watch $21,578 in attorney’s fees and costs within two weeks.

The penalty stems from Willis’ office initially claiming no documents existed in response to Judicial Watch’s open records request, only to identify them later as exempt from disclosure.

Judicial Watch had requested documents related to communications between Willis, DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith and the House January 6 Committee.

The conservative group’s determination to seek these records ultimately proved that at least one document had been in Willis’ possession.

The court’s ruling highlights a troubling pattern of obstruction and lack of transparency from Willis’ office.

Judge McBurney criticized Willis for not conducting a proper search until prompted by litigation.

He stated, “Even if the records prove to be just that — exempt from disclosure for sound public policy reasons — this late revelation is a patent violation of the ORA. And for none of this is there any justification, substantial or otherwise: no one searched until prodded by civil litigation.”

“Fani Willis flouted the law, and the court is right to slam her and require, at a minimum, the payment of nearly $22,000 to Judicial Watch,” said the organization’s President Tom Fitton.

Fitton pulled no punches when suggesting Willis’ office politically colluded with the January 6 committee.

He emphasized the importance of this case, stating that it involved “the soul and survival of America.”

Adding to Willis’ legal woes, she was recently disqualified from handling the 2020 election interference case against President-elect Donald Trump due to a “significant appearance of impropriety.”

Both this disqualification and this open records violation raise serious questions about Willis’ ability to conduct fair and transparent investigations.

Judge McBurney’s ruling serves as a warning that no one is above the law, not even those who are tasked with upholding it.
