The sudden firing of USAID Inspector General Paul K. Martin came just a day after he released a report highlighting the risks of spoilage, unanticipated storage needs, and potential diversion of food assistance valued at over $489 million.

Martin’s report raised alarms about the impact of Trump’s policies, suggesting nearly $500 million worth of food could be at risk.

With an additional 500,000 metric tons of food stranded or ready to be shipped, Martin’s report emphasized the compromised tracking of $8.2 billion in unspent humanitarian aid.
