(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Donald Trump is expected to appear at the annual gathering of Moms For Liberty, a nonprofit organization that has pulled efforts to get mentions of LGBTQ+ identity and structural racism out of classrooms K-12.
The former president will push for support from the group which is composed of one hundred and thirty thousand conservatives who believe in having more say and transparency when it comes to public education. Another shared view is the eradication of racial equity programs and transgender accommodations from public schools.
However, with his attempt to bring in supporters from this side, he will risk alienating more moderate voters, like those who see Moms for LIberty’s activism as “too extreme.”
This group has also shown support for Project 2025, which has been a controversial playbook that outlines the plan for the next conservative presidency. Trump’s political practices and beliefs fall in line with Project 2025, but he has openly denied his approval of the plan and doesn’t agree with what’s in it.
There is a lot of controversy over Moms for Liberty and what kind of role they are playing in their efforts. They have also been criticized for their place on the advisory board for Project 2025.
Trump could potentially face liability for associating with Moms for Liberty after the increased controversy over their practices, beliefs, and what their role is in politics.
Trump hasn’t shared much of what he’ll be saying at the gathering, but his campaign insinuated that it would be education focused. This could include speaking about giving parents more choice when it comes to schools and what is taught, and it could include talks about his plans with the Department of Education.
Karolina Leavitt, the Trump campaign’s national press secretary, said, “President Trump believes students should be taught reading, writing and math in the classroom — not gender, sex and race like the Biden Administration is pushing on our public school system.”
