(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas became the latest casualty in President Donald Trump’s cost-cutting measures after his taxpayer-funded security protection was revoked.
The move follows similar decisions to end Secret Service details for Hunter Biden, Anthony Fauci, and other Biden-era figures.
These moves signal President Trump’s commitment to eliminating wasteful government spending on officials responsible for America’s numerous crises.
The Secret Service confirmed the termination of Mayorkas’s protective detail following an executive memo issued by President Trump.
This decision came after the Biden administration had initially extended Mayorkas’s security protection for six months, which would have lasted until mid-July at taxpayers’ expense.
A Secret Service spokesperson acknowledged the discontinuation but declined to comment on specific operational details.
The agency was recently informed of the decision and is now working to comply with the president’s directive.
Although President Trump shared news about the revocation on Truth Social, the White House has not issued an immediate response to the situation.
Mayorkas is the latest in a series of Biden administration officials to lose their taxpayer-funded security details under the Trump administration.
Earlier decisions affected Hunter and Ashley Biden, as well as former chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci, who lost his protection earlier this month.
President Trump has previously been critical of what he viewed as excessive security protection for Biden family members.
When Hunter Biden’s protection was revoked, the president highlighted the unnecessary burden on taxpayers for protecting individuals who are not entitled to such services under standard protocols.
According to established guidelines, former presidents and their spouses receive lifelong Secret Service protection.
Nonetheless, their children’s protection typically ends when they leave office unless specifically extended.
The decision regarding Mayorkas comes as millions of Americans continue to intensely criticize the Biden administration’s border policies.
Mayorkas, who oversaw the worst border crisis in American history, had been given extended protection despite leaving office, a privilege many Americans questioned given his controversial tenure.
President Trump has also previously removed protection for Mike Pompeo and John Bolton due to specific threats from Iran.
These security detail revocations represent part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to reduce government spending.
They also seek to eliminate what many conservatives view as unnecessary perks for former officials, particularly those associated with policies that damaged American security and sovereignty.
