(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Former President Donald Trump remains an active user on his Truth Social media platform despite Elon Musk recently unbanning him from Twitter. Trump, known for his late-night social media usage, took to Truth Social at 2 AM to re-post a user’s comment that reads, “81 million votes…..and I’ve never seen a pro Biden hat, shirt or flag in my life.” Below this, a flag with the message, “F*** BIDEN AND F*** YOU FOR VOTING FOR HIM!”
Trump concurred, posting, “True: No Biden hats anywhere. Never seen one!” Trump continued in his usual unabashed style, occasionally using vulgarity for emphasis. He doubled down on his claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him. But some critics were quick to note the bad optics of making crass remarks on the 4th of July.
Later that day, Trump would post his Fourth of July message, “Happy FOURTH OF JULY to everyone. We are working hard, we will take back our Country, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.” He added that 2024 would be the “LAST GREAT CHANCE” for his movement to do so.
While Truth Social relies upon the presence of Trump, Twitter now faces a challenge from Meta. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a new app called “Threads,” which would serve as a competitor and have a similar emphasis on public conversations that Twitter has. Some in the tech industry have even nicknamed Threads the “Twitter killer.”
Despite the free speech emphasis of Twitter since its acquisition by Elon Musk, advertisers have started to pull from the platform due to the removal of specific content moderation rules and the creation of a paid method to obtain verification. With allegations of “hate speech” and impersonation of brand accounts, Twitter could face a serious challenge from Threads.
Social media will significantly impact the upcoming 2024 election and how its respective campaigns message voters.
