(TheConservativeTimes.org) – President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled a game-changing initiative that promises to empower law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their loved ones regardless of state lines.
Aiming to revolutionize Second Amendment rights across America, Trump is pushing for national concealed carry reciprocity.
“I will protect the right of self-defense everywhere it is under siege, and I will sign concealed carry reciprocity. Your second amendment does not end at the state line,” Trump proclaimed.
Trump’s vision for concealed carry reciprocity is simple: treat gun permits like driver’s licenses, valid across all 50 states.
This common-sense approach would get rid of the confusing patchwork of state laws that currently hinder law-abiding gun owners from exercising their constitutional rights when crossing state borders.
Second Amendment staunch defender Rep. Thomas Massie has introduced HR9534 or the National Constitutional Carry Act, which aligns perfectly with Trump’s goals.
Massie argues, “No one should have to beg the government to exercise a constitutionally protected right anywhere in the country.”
This bold legislation would establish permitless carry reciprocity across the United States, further cementing the right to bear arms as a fundamental American freedom.
“The time to stand up for our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms is always: Now. Constitutional Carry is recognized by 29 states, and it is important to keep building on this momentum,” Massie declared.
Although GovTrack.us estimates that Massie’s bill only has a 1% chance of enactment, the tide is turning.
Trump’s unwavering support for gun rights and his appointments of three pro-Second Amendment Supreme Court justices during his presidency set the stage for a potential breakthrough in expanding concealed carry rights nationwide.
Meanwhile, critics of national concealed carry reciprocity, such as Democrats and gun control advocates, argue that such legislation would undermine state-specific gun laws.
