(TheConservativeTimes.org) – While the Democrats spent years fostering an open border scheme that backfired spectacularly, President Donald Trump has unveiled a bombshell immigration plan.
He has announced a bold new “Gold Card” visa program that will charge $5 million for a clear path to American citizenship and replace the EB-5 investor visa.
The fresh proposal aims to attract wealthy immigrants who will invest directly in America while generating billions for the economy and bypassing the fraud-plagued EB-5 system that Democrats have exploited for years.
President Trump announced the Gold Card initiative as part of his strategic immigration reform plan.
The initiative offers green card privileges and citizenship opportunities for those willing to make a substantial financial commitment to America.
Unlike the complicated EB-5 program, which requires investing in commercial enterprises and creating jobs, the Gold Card simplifies the process while significantly increasing the investment threshold.
“We are going to be selling a gold card. We are going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million,” President Trump explained.
“It’s going to give you green card privileges, plus it’s going to be a route to (American) citizenship, and wealthy people would be coming into our country by buying this card,” he continued.
The current EB-5 program, which requires investments as low as $800,000 in targeted areas, has been plagued with problems.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick did not mince words when describing the existing system, which was established in 1990 but has become increasingly controversial under Democrat administrations.
“It was a way to get a green card that was low price. So the president said, rather than having this sort of ridiculous EB-5 program, we’re going to end the EB-5 program. We’re going to replace it with the Trump gold card,” said Lutnick.
The administration anticipates releasing full details within two weeks, with estimates suggesting the potential sale of up to one million Gold Cards.
At $5 million each, this could generate a staggering $5 trillion in direct investment into the American economy – funds that could help reduce the deficit that spiraled out of control under the Biden administration.
Importantly, President Trump emphasized that participants would not be directly “buying citizenship” but instead investing in America while gaining a path to citizenship.
All applicants would undergo thorough vetting, ensuring only high-quality immigrants enter through this program.
President Trump’s plan mirrors successful programs in other nations like the U.K.’s Tier 1 Investor visa, which similarly attracts wealthy foreign nationals.
The Gold Card represents a major shift toward merit-based immigration that benefits America’s economy directly rather than the chaotic open border policies implemented in recent years.
“They’ll be wealthy and they’ll be successful and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people. And we think it’s going to be extremely successful and never been done before anything like this,” President Trump said.
