This ambitious vision promises to shift its traditional botanical aura into a multifunctional venue capable of hosting larger events.
The changes speak to Trump’s desire to infuse a touch of his legendary design prowess right into the nation’s capital.
Donald Trump is channeling his Mar-a-Lago resort’s grandeur into the White House, starting with the iconic Rose Garden.
Proposals for expansive paving are underway, marking a shift from lush grass to potentially limestone or hardwood surfaces, enhancing guests’ experiences during events, The Daily Mail reports.
Steven Cheung, White House Communications Director, remarks, “The White House has not been given any tender, loving care in many decades, so President Trump is taking necessary steps in order to preserve and restore the greatness and glory of ‘the People’s House.'”
Blueprints reveal Trump’s meticulous engagement with the redesign process, consulting with curators to incorporate new features.
This includes a remarkable ballroom on the South Lawn, inspired by the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles, all funded personally by Trump.
“He’s personally reviewed those blueprints and even met with the curators as he seeks to put his stamp not just on the Oval Office, but really the entire West Wing in general,” reports CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.
The conversion of this traditional space does not intend to erase history but evolve it, ensuring functionality for press conferences and global leader meetings.
Still, the iconic roses are expected to remain, promising a blend of the old and the new.
As tensions rise between traditionalists and forward-thinkers, Trump’s plans highlight his dual nature as both a statesman and real estate icon.
The calculated renovations align with his personal style while supposedly enhancing the White House’s utility for grand gatherings.
“You see the grass outside. So we’re going to make that into a stone surface because you can’t have it,” he said, referring to White House grounds that are used for hosting.
“I think it’s actually going to look better. But some people would like to leave it. But the problem is you can’t,” Trump added, cited by The Washington Times.
The final outcome remains to be fully revealed, but one thing is certain—Trump’s vision will undeniably leave its mark on Washington D.C., shaping the White House into a reflection of the modern era while steeped in patriotic tradition.
