(TheConservativeTimes.org) – In a shocking display of Democrat corruption and voter apathy, a former Michigan township supervisor charged in a child sex sting operation has won re-election by a landslide.
Florida Democrat Ken Fletcher secured a staggering 88.5% of the vote despite facing serious felony charges for allegedly attempting to solicit a minor for sexual purposes.
The disgraced politician resigned in September after being caught in a sting operation, but his name remained on the ballot due to election law technicalities.
The charges against him stem from alleged sexual conversations with an investigator posing as a 15-year-old boy on the adult dating app Grindr.
Even more disturbing, Fletcher allegedly continued to send explicit messages and offered to meet the decoy after learning of the supposed minor’s age.
This case exposes the dire need for stricter laws to protect American children from online predators and highlights the importance of parental vigilance in monitoring their children’s online activities.
It also raises serious questions about the judgment of Delta Township voters, who overwhelmingly supported a candidate facing such heinous allegations.
Delta Township Clerk Mary Clark was appointed as interim supervisor after Fletcher’s resignation. She said that Fletcher would not be removed from the seat unless he was convicted and sentenced to one year or more.
Moreover, Fletcher’s lawyer claimed his client is “surprised” by the election results and is considering whether returning to the position is best for the community.
“The biggest question I think for Ken Fletcher is, is this the right thing for not just me but for the community, am I still the best person for the job,” the lawyer stated.
Meanwhile, court records showed that the disgraced supervisor, who is out on bond, pleaded not guilty to the two felonies.
