US Sets Target of 90 Million?!

(TheConservativeTimes.org) – It seems that the Harris-Biden administration’s economic policies are failing once again, as it has set a target of a staggering 90 million for international visitors by 2026.

The U.S. State Department, led by Secretary Antony Blinken, boasts about a record-breaking 8.5 million visas issued out of 11.5 million processed during the 2024 fiscal year.

The administration is touting this 10% increase from the previous year as a success, but it raises red flags for those concerned about the impact on American jobs and communities.

While the travel and tourism industry claims to support approximately 10 million American jobs and contribute $2.3 trillion to the economy, skeptics question whether these numbers truly reflect the benefits to hardworking Americans or simply line the pockets of big corporations and foreign interests.

Moreover, the Biden administration’s push for increased international visitors comes at a time when many Americans are still struggling with inflation and job insecurity.

Critics argue that resources should be focused on supporting American citizens rather than catering to foreign tourists.

Blinken said, “We’re doing everything we can to ramp up everyone coming to this country for these incredible events—[helping them] get their visas in a timely way.”

Meanwhile, some may see the streamlined visa process, which has reportedly decreased wait times by 60% since the pandemic, as a positive step.

Adding to the controversy, the administration plans to increase visa appointments by 1 million for the 2025 fiscal year, partly due to upcoming major sporting events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

While these events may temporarily boost the economy, they also present significant security challenges and potential burdens on local infrastructure.

“Travel and tourism aren’t just fun, it isn’t just meaningful, it’s a real business, and it’s sustaining jobs in America,” Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo commented.

Even though Raimondo’s statement about the economic benefits of tourism fails to address the potential negative impacts on American culture and society, the number of international visitors skyrockets dramatically.

Due to this influx of visitors, airports will become busier and more crowded, and American travelers may face longer wait times and increased inconvenience.

The suggestion to consider TSA PreCheck is a band-aid solution that puts the burden on law-abiding citizens rather than addressing the root cause of the problem.
