(TheConservativeTimes.org) – Despite the inflammatory tone he struck during his failed campaign, Joe Biden addressed the nation to concede defeat and promised a peaceful transition of power to President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump’s stunning win came as he secured crucial victories in key swing states, leading in both the Electoral College and the popular vote.
The Republican Party also made significant gains, capturing a Senate majority with at least 53 seats, while control of the House remains in the air.
Biden’s concession comes long after a poor debate performance that saw his party force him to drop out of the race and anoint Kamala Harris as his successor.
Despite her efforts, Harris could not overcome the massive support for Trump’s return to the White House.
Biden attempted to put on a brave face in his address, stating, “I know for some people, it’s a time for victory, to state the obvious. For others, it’s a time of loss.”
“Campaigns are contests of competing visions. The country chooses one or the other. We accept the choice the country made,” he added.
“Yesterday I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory and I assured him I’d direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. That’s what the American people deserve,” Biden continued.
Harris shared Biden’s sentiments in her concession speech, emphasizing the importance of accepting election results.
As the nation prepares for Trump’s return to the White House, world leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have said they are willing to work with the new administration.
As Biden prepares to leave office, he also attempted to highlight his administration’s alleged accomplishments, including bipartisan infrastructure legislation.
