(TheConservativeTimes.org) – President Donald Trump’s shake-up of the media establishment that has long controlled White House access has sparked outrage from an unsuspecting corner: Fox News.
Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich raised eyebrows with her surprising criticism of the White House’s latest decision.
Her opposition comes in response to the news that the Trump administration will now select its own press pool in an effort to restore public trust in media reporting.
The administration announced it would determine which media outlets make up the presidential press pool, removing this power from the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA).
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that this change would “give the power back to the people who read your papers, who watch television shows, and who listen to your radio stations.”
“A select group of D.C.-based journalists should no longer have a monopoly of press access at the White House,” Leavitt added.
Her words highlight the administration’s commitment to breaking up the media establishment’s stranglehold on White House coverage.
This bold move to diversify media access comes after years of biased coverage from traditional outlets.
The White House’s announcement specifically mentioned plans to include streaming services and new media voices that better represent everyday Americans rather than allowing a small group of Washington elites to control presidential access.
Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich joined liberal media figures in criticizing the decision.
She claimed: “This move does not give the power back to the people – it gives power to the White House. The WHCA is democratically elected by the full-time White House press corps.”
Heinrich’s alignment with liberal media figures raises questions about Fox News’s commitment to supporting the Trump administration’s media reforms.
The White House’s decision follows a significant dispute with the Associated Press (AP), which was barred from pooled events after a disagreement over the naming of the Gulf of America.
The AP has responded with a lawsuit claiming First Amendment violations, with a hearing scheduled for next month.
Critics like WHCA president Eugene Daniels have claimed the change threatens press freedom.
He said: “It suggests the government will choose the journalists who cover the president. In a free country, leaders must not be able to choose their own press corps.”
However, critics fail to acknowledge that the WHCA itself has long been dominated by left-leaning journalists who have repeatedly demonstrated hostility toward conservative administrations.
The Trump team’s decision simply levels the playing field and ensures that alternative viewpoints have equal access.
“The White House press team, in this administration, will determine who gets to enjoy the very privileged and limited access in spaces such as Air Force One and the Oval Office,” Leavitt stated.
She underscored that access to the president is indeed a privilege, not an entitlement for hostile media outlets.
For Trump supporters and Americans tired of biased media coverage, this change represents a long-overdue effort to restore balance to presidential reporting.
By including a wider range of media voices, including those from conservative outlets and new digital platforms, the administration is ensuring that the American people receive more diverse and representative coverage of their president’s activities.
