(TheConservativeTimes.org) – A grand jury last week indicted an Arizona woman who attempted to poison her husband by pouring bleach into the coffee maker every day since at least March, CNN reported.
Tucson resident Melody Felicano Johnson was indicted on charges of first-degree attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault, and poisoning.
According to court documents obtained by KVOA, Roby Johnson, a serving member of the US Air Force, first began to notice that his coffee had a foul taste in March, while he and Melody Johnson were stationed in Germany.
Though the couple was going through a divorce at the time, they were still living together with their child.
Using pool testing strips, Johnson discovered that his coffee pot tested for high levels of chlorine, according to court documents. To determine the cause, Johnson installed a hidden camera that caught his wife pouring some unknown liquid into the coffee maker.
Johnson told investigators that while in Germany, he continued to pretend to drink the coffee, opting to wait until they returned stateside before he filed a police report.
When he returned to Davis Monthan Air Force Base near Tucson, Johnson told investigators that he used multiple cameras over several days that showed his wife pouring bleach into a container and then pouring the contents of the container into the coffee maker.
During her arraignment last Friday, Melody Johnson entered a plea of not guilty.
The judge set her bond at $250,000 after prosecutors argued that a high bond was necessary since Melody recently purchased a home near her family in the Philippines and was believed to be a flight risk.
Johnson is being held at Pima County Jail while she awaits her next court appearance on September 6.
